2023 Danish Festival

 April 17, 2023 Our 1st competition for this season  was Cru dance competition in Grand Rapids. We started of Saturday morning with our junior soloists dancing them all  receiving  Superior awards, Jaelyn Christensen receiving 10th place overall high score, Anna Morano  9th place overall high score, Addison Workman received 5th place overall high score. Our Junior small group jazz dance, "Bills", received a Superior award and 8th place overall high score. Our production received a Superior award and 1st place overall high score, a special recognition award for staging and prop use and a "Dare to be different" award for creativity. Our teen soloists performed in the evening. In contemporary Caitlyn Pair received a Superior award, Alexis Shackelford received a Superior award and 10th place overall high score. In hip hop Carlie Willingham received a Superior award and 7th place overall, Shaylee Hunter received a Superior award 5th place overall high score, a special award for "Isolation Master" for her extra sharp moves and an invitation to perform at universal in the national hip hop team. Tatum Anderson performed her jazz solo and received a Superior award. Holly Reitsma and Charlotte Anderson performed lyrical solos and both received a Superior awards.  Emma Morano received a Superior award for her musical theatre performance. Emma Tyslenko received a Superior award for her tap solo. It was a very successful 1st day at competition.

Sunday started off bright and early with our senior soloists. In contemporary dance Zach Houghton received a Superior award, 6th overall high score and a special invitation to the Heart and soul company performance in Disney in 2024. Larissa Roy received an Ultimate elite award and 2nd place overall high score and a special recognition award for her student choreography contemporary dance. For her musical theatre dance she received a Superior award. Jade Mollo received a Superior award for her contemporary dance. 

Our teen duet dances all received a Superior  awards with No excuses (Jaelyn &Holly) receiving 4 th overall high score, Rio (Addison W & Emma T) receiving 3rd overall high score, Never had a friend like me (Alexis S and Shaylee) receiving 2nd overall high score. Our senior duet Bonnie and Clyde (Zach and Emma M) received a Superior uperior award and 3rd overall high score. Our teen hip hop "Get low" received a Superior award and 3rd overall high score. "What have I done" our Sr lyrical dance received a Superior award and 1st overall high score. Our adult jazz received a Ultimate elite award and 1st overall high score. 

Along with the great adjudicated awards our studio was award the ADCC The Studio of Excellence Award. This award is given to a studio of their choice that best exemplifies the values of The ADCC, which include working together and striving for excellence while being supportive of other dancers and showing good sportsmanship. May 3, 2023 Our 2nd competition for this season.  This weekend at On point dance competition was a fun and busy couple of days. One of our dancers even got to celebrate her birthday on stage during the "dance party" before awards. Our dancers performed their hearts out. I'm so proud of theses kids and what they have accomplished.

Emma Morano performed 2 solos, Beetlejuice received a High gold  and 1st overall Sr solos. No Way received a High Gold and judge's special award for "a ball of energy".

Zach Houghton and Emma Morano's duet Bonnie & Clyde received a Gold. Their 2 nd duet The Puppet received a High Gold, 1st place hip hop category, 4th place overall high score in teen  intermediate duets and a Judge's special award "Hard hitters".

Mini competitive jazz Bills  received a Gold and a Dynamic award  for Jr dancers.

Teen competitive Hip hop, Get Low received a Gold.

Advanced lyrical, What Have I Done  received a Gold. 

Adult jazz, Women Like Us  received a High Gold, a Judge's special award and 1st overall high score.

The Dancimation team production dance, Calling All The Monsters, received a   High gold  and 2nd place overall High score. 

For our 3rd competition we attended That's Entertainment Performing Arts Competition in Sparta. The dancers gave their best performances yet.

Zach Houghton's Bones received a Solid Gold, judge's special award for commitment to complete and  TE elite team nomination 

Alexis Shackelford's Family Lines received a Solid Gold 

Emma Morano's No Way received a  Solid Gold, 2 nd place 13-15 year old musical theatre solos, a judge's award Sparkle and Dazzle and  TE elite team nomination for musical theatre 

Addison Workman's Birthday Cake received a Solid Gold,  7 th overall high score Jr solos, a  special judge's award Light as a feather, aTE elite team nomination, and was selected Most valuable competitor for our studio by the competition company.

Jaelyn Christensen's The Mad Hatter received a Solid Gold,  1st place 12-13 tap category, and 6 th overall high score teen solos 

Anna Morano's This is It received a Solid Gold, 2nd place 12-13 year old tap solos,  8th place overall high score teen solos and Judge's special award  for Tap diva 

Duets
Addison Workman and Emma Tyslenko's Rio     received a Solid Gold and 2nd place in 10-12 jazz duet category 

Emma Morano and Zach Houghton's Bonnie & Clyde received a High Gold and judge's special award for Partner work 

Jaelyn Christensen and Holly Reitsma's No Excuses  received a Solid Gold, 1st place 10-12 year old tap duets,  5 th overall high score Jr duets and a judge's special award Clear and Crisp tap

Alexis Shackelford and Shaylee Hunter's Never had a friend received a Solid Gold, 10 th place overall high score duet/ trios, and judge's special award Breath of fresh air 

Dancimation's production dance Calling all the Monster  received a Solid Gold 

Our mini's jazz dance Bills received a Solid Gold,  2nd place Jr jazz small groups and  5th place overall high score Jr groups, and judge's special Love to dance award, 

Teen hip hop dance Get Low received a High Gold, 1st place in small group hip hop category, 7 th place overall  teen small group dances

Advanced lyrical What Have I done received a High Gold, 2nd place teen lyrical group category and judge special award for a Powerful message 

Adult jazz Women Like Us received a Solid Gold,   1st place adult jazz group category and 2nd place overall high score along with a judge's special award  for Power to the women

Our team also received the Best sportsmanship award for the competition for the 2nd year in a row.

July 6, 2023 Our final competition for this season.  

I can't begin to say how proud I am of our Dancimation performing company. This past weekend we traveled to Chicago to participate in the Chicago Dance Connect Jazz Camp. This is a full weekend event where the dancers took classes from 7:30 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon all three day with some of the top choreographers from Chicago and across the nation. This was the first time attending this type of intensive for most of our dancers and they rose to the challenge with flying colors. They all danced exceptionally in classes with special full scholarships towards next year given to Ayleen Bazea, Vada Helais and Carlie Willingham,  And Miss Robyn being given a scholarship for Hoodfit. In addition to taking classes they also participated in competition.

Tap dances: The Man received a High silver, No excuses received a High silver  1 st overall, This is it received a high silver 2nd overall and 

Mad hatter received a high silver 3rd overall tap division. 

Never had a Friend like me received a High silver and 2nd place overall high score and No way received a High silver and 3rd place overall high score in the music theater division. 

Jazz dances Bills, Most Girls, and  Rio all received a silver award.

Contemporary dances Bones, Warrior, What have I done, Familylines and Turning tables received a High silver and Birthday cake received a Gold award.

Hip hop dances Puppet and Get low both received a High silver and Miss E and The Joker both received a Gold. 

Our production number Calling all the monsters received a High silver and 2nd place overall high score.

Along with dancing the students had a lot of fun enjoying Chicago and playing in the pool. It was another fun and successful dance weekend to wrap up our competition schedule.

 I and all of the instructors at our studio are so very proud of everything that theses dancers have accomplished this season. They have worked so hard to achieve this success.

The Dancimation performing company from Miss Dee's School of Dance has just returned from their trip where they performed their hearts out at Universal Studios in  Orlando Florida on June 17 2022. I can't say enough about this wonderful group of dancers. They performed with smiles brighter than the sun that was making the already warm day sizzle with temperatures over 90 deg. Their 30 min performance drew people passing by and shopping to fill the  City Walk Lagoon stage  viewing area. The crowd cheered for each of the dances and  were ecstatic about the Academy of Wizardry finale production as well as the tap, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop dances they performed.  Upon conclusion of the performance the Production Staff for the stage said that this was the one of the best performances they have had  from any of the visiting groups that have performed this year! These dancers have worked so hard to do this performance of a lifetime and because of all the wonderful businesses and people who came out and supported them, they were able to make their dream come true.  They would like to extend a special thank all of you.  They  made a mark on the performance world doing Greenville and the surrounding area proud.  You will be able to see their performance at Danish Festival on Friday at 1:15 pm. May 9, 2022 Our Dancimation Performing Company traveled to Cru Dance competition and achieved some outstanding accolades for their work. Our Academy of Wizardry production number was one of three dances chosen out of over 325 dances to compete for the Best Entertainment Showcase award. Even though they did not win, it is an honor to be chosen to compete for this award as the competition is very fierce.  Our studio was also chosen to receive the Association of Dance Competitions and Conventions Organization's Studio of Excellence Award. This award is given to the outstanding studio that best exemplifies the values of the ADCC which include working together and striving for excellence. This is quite an honor to receive. Our team will be listed in the Competitive Advantage Magazine and our photo will be included on their website and social media.  We are very proud of all these kids and all they have achieved this year! So that you understand the scores, Ultimate Elite is 93-100 points out of 100 possible and the highest rating. Superior is 86-92.9 points and the 2nd highest rating, Outstanding is 79-85 points and 3rd highest rating.
